Net Weighers - Net weighers are the most flexible type of weigher on the market. They weigh the product before it enters the bag. They can handle a wide variety of products but are relatively slow (5-12 product per minute per lane) when compared to other types of fillers. They usually cost about 10K-15K per lane and can have up to four lanes total.

Auger Fillers - Augers are designed for powder products such as drink mixes, flour, baby formula, cake mix, spices, detergents, toner, and tea. They are fast but limited in the types of products they can handle. They dispense product by rotating a screw (auger) a set number of times. Typical price range is 12K-23K and they run at speeds up to 80 ppm.

Volumetric (Cup) Fillers- Dispense product by volume. They work best on dry, free-flowing products such as: rice, beans, coffee beans and candy, where the bulk density does not change drastically. The advantage of cup fillers is that they are fast (up to 80 ppm) and inexpensive (10K –15K). The disadvantage is that they do not work well on certain products.

Combination Weigher – A Combination weigher has a number of individual scales (usually 14 separate scales) each attempting to achieve 1/3 of the total weight. When all the scales are full the computer picks the best combination of (three) 3 to achieve the target weight. These scales are fast (60-120ppm) and very accurate, but very expensive (70K-100K).
